Heather Morrison confirmed four new positive COVID-19 cases on Prince Edward Island Monday.

As of September 4, the number of cases in Louth stood at 840.

Dallas County health officials reported 247 additional cases of the novel coronavirus Sunday, though 125 of the cases were reported through a state system that has experienced backlogs.

It becomes the 12th confirmed case of COVID-19 ever recorded in the shire, none of which remain active. Public health nursing is following all daily and contact tracing is underway. The province notes more information will be shared during a COVID-19 public health briefing scheduled for Tuesday.

“I know the community are exhausted, frustrated and anxious, however, if you follow the public health advice, the risk of infection from COVID-19 is low”, Ms Phillips said. The chief public health office will continue to update Islanders on these cases as more information is known in the coming days.

There has been a total of 1,777 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

Yesterday, the National Public Health Emergency Team confirmed there had been a further 138 cases of the virus identified within the community, bringing Ireland’s total to 29,672.
